BIOGRAPHY

Ina Zdorovetchi is Principal Harpist of Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Portland Symphony Orchestra (Maine), Boston Lyric Opera and an Artist Faculty at Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and Festival. She frequently appears as concerto soloist with various orchestras, highlights including West German Radio Symphony Orchestra (Cologne), Jerusalem Symphony, Haifa Symphony, Portland Symphony Orchestra, The Boston Pops, Long Beach Symphony, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Brevard Music Center Orchestra and Boston Modern Orchestra Project. 

 

Her live-in-concert rendition of “Máscaras” Harp Concerto by Arturo Márquez is featured on Portland Symphony Orchestra’s first-ever CD release (PARMA Recordings, 2024) and she holds the special distinction of performing the European premiere of “On Williows and Birches” Harp Concerto by the most Oscar-nominated composer alive John Williams (broadcast live on German radio). Additionally, she gave the world premiere of “…bisbigliando…” Harp Concerto by Thomas Oboe Lee (dedicated to her and released on BMOP/Sound, 2009) and was one of the five soloists at the American Harp Society 2010 National Conference Gala Concert, appearing alongside some of the world’s most celebrated harpists. 

 

Ms. Zdorovetchi is the recipient of numerous honors, including the top prize and multiple special awards at the 17th International Harp Contest (Israel), second prize at the Cité des Arts International Harp Competition (Paris, France), Henry Cabot Award for Special Commitment of Talent (Boston Symphony Orchestra & Tanglewood Music Center), Honors Chamber Music Competition winner (New England Conservatory), Outstanding Music Faculty of the Year (Boston Conservatory at Berklee) and Alien with Extraordinary Abilities in the Arts title (US Department of State). 

 

As a chamber musician she has played at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, World Harp Congress, Celebrity Series of Boston, Savannah Music Festival, Rockport Chamber Music and was invited to give a solo recital at the residence of John Kerry, 68th Secretary of State of the United States, in front of several preeminent world leaders. Her performances have been broadcast live on WDR Köln (Germany), Israel Broadcasting Authority, National Public Radio (USA), Classical Radio Boston, Moldova National TV & Radio, and recorded for Sony, Naxos, PARMA, Albany Records, BMOP/Sound and Portland Symphony TV, among others. 

 

Previously, she was Head of the Harp Department & Associate Professor at Boston Conservatory, faculty at New England Conservatory Preparatory Division and its Summer Orchestra Institute, artist faculty at Brevard Music Center (2012-2016) and an instructor at Wellesley College. Her students have won many important competitions and have been accepted/enrolled to Juilliard School, Yale University, New England Conservatory, USC Thornton, Eastman School of Music and other highly prestigious schools. 

 

Born in Moldova, Ina Zdorovetchi is a naturalized American citizen. She holds degrees from New England Conservatory, Boston University and Boston Conservatory, with substantial additional studies at the Tanglewood Music Center (2003-2006), Bucharest University of Music (Romania) and “Ciprian Porumbescu” Lyceum of Music, where she double-majored in piano and harp. In her spare time she enjoys baking, spending time at the beach and voraciously reading on her favorite subjects: psychology, kinesics and financial markets.
